A commencement ceremony for reconstruction in the Hengtan Village Hexi Economic Cooperative and an inauguration ceremony for the Project Service Demo Center of the Guangzhou Branch (North) were held in Hengtan Village, Huadu District, on October 15, 2019. Mr. Cheng Xiuzhong, the vice president of Times China Holdings and general manager of the Guangzhou Branch (North); Mr. Cui Jiufeng, the assistant president of Times China Holdings and general manager of the Urban Renewal Management Center; Ms. Yang Xinmei, secretary of the Party Working Committee of Xinhua Subdistrict, Huadu District; Mr. Ren Liting, deputy director of the Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Huadu District; Mr. Wu Shibo, secretary of the Hengtan Village Committee; and representatives from the Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Xinhua Subdistrict, and Hengtan Village of Huadu District witnessed the historic occasion.

The crowd assembled for the ceremony was addressed by Mr. Cheng Xiuzhong, vice president of Times China Holdings and general manager of Guangzhou Branch (North); Mr. Wu Shibo, secretary of the Hengtan Village Committee; and Wang Tangzhong, member of the Xinhua Subdistrict Committee. Together they wished for a smooth, successful project.

Mr. Cheng Xiuzhong, after the address, led the other leaders and guests to use the golden shovel at the ceremonial foundation of the project. Amid a thundering salute, the workers embarked on their excavator operation and started to demolish the aged houses on the site. The roar of gongs and drums signaled to all that the demolition work in Hengtan Village had begun. Thus, it was "out with the old and in with the new."

Subsequently, the project leaders and guests moved to inaugurate the Demo Center, which is now open. With this, the transformation of old Hengtan Village marks another milestone on the path of progress.

Mr. Cheng Xiuzhong then accompanied the other guests to visit the exhibition hall, where he discussed, together with government officials, the plan to promote the transformation of the old village. The government officials spoke highly of the Demo Center.

Hengtan Village, like Hongwei Village, is another old village being reconstructed by Times China. It is also the first village that is demolished by Times China as the official partner of Guangzhou government after the launch of the new policies. In adherence to the principles of "love, commitment and creation," we believe that, through the efforts of all Times members and project cooperators, the project will contribute great dynamism to the upgrading of Guangzhou's urban market. It will bring exciting innovation to the city.
