At 10:30 a.m. on August 7, 2020, the construction launch ceremony for Times Smart Town began. The event was attended by Zhao Hai, vice mayor of Foshan; Shum Chiu Hung, the board chairman of Times China; Gu Yaohui, the mayor of Foshan Nanhai District; Pan Yongtong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Foshan Nanhai District CPC Committee; Huang Songhua, the deputy mayor of Foshan Nanhai District; Huang Wenfu, a member of the Party Leadership Group of Nanhai District Government and executive commander of the Key Platform Construction Command of Nanhai District; Liu Haowen, CPC Committee secretary of Dali Town; You Jianfeng, the mayor of Dali Town; Zhou Siyang, vice president of Times China Group; Lu Qing, vice president of Times China Group; Luo Renzong, the deputy general manager of Times China's Foshan Branch, along with leaders from Nanhai District and other authorities, officials and entrepreneurs' representatives at the town and village levels, Foshan government leaders and entrepreneurs' representatives at all city, district and town levels, the Guangdong Human Resources Management Association, the Guangdong Manufacturers Association, and authoritative media outlets in Guangzhou and Foshan.

Introduction to Times Smart Town Project

At the beginning of the construction launch ceremony, Zhou Siyang, vice president of Times China Group, delivered a speech. He expressed his gratitude to governments at all levels for attaching importance to the Times Smart Town project. Zhou spoke enthusiastically, saying, "Nanhai District boasts an ideal business environment, and the signing of contracts for a number of projects represents the market's optimism regarding Nanhai District and Dali Town. Times China will redouble its effort and show greater determination to attract investment and build a global makers' town in Nanhai."

At the construction launch ceremony, Times China signed a strategic cooperation agreement on industrial projects with the Dali Town Government and renowned companies such as Siemens, Nvidia Ecological, Ingram Micro, Microsoft, Ali Whale Cloud, Lenovo, South China Industrial Internet, iFLYTEK, ZENTEK, Leinao, KLA-Tencor Accessories, EOS Group, and the South China Mechanical and Electrical Research and Design Institute.

Witnessed by all the guests present, Times China and Dali Town Government and Guangdong Human Resources Management Association signed an agreement on joint development of "Maker Lecture" to build a “service-industry cluster of global intelligent manufacturing and production”, thus attracting the talent with which to promote enterprise development.

At 11:15, the host invited the distinguished guests to perform the rod-pushing ceremony on the stage. As the countdown finished, the guests pushed the rod together amid a salvo of guns, brightly colored banners and deafening sound of gongs and drums. Everyone applauded as the project's construction was announced.

Subsequent to the construction launch ceremony, Foshan Branch's internal employees and leaders and associates of the Group performed a sacrificial ceremony to mark the commencement of the project at the site. They shared the traditional roast piglet and apples, after which they prayed for success of Times Smart Town. The ceremony concluded after a group photo was taken.

Times Smart Town is blessed with an excellent geographical location along Guihe Road, Dali Town, Nanhai District, 20 kilometers from Guangzhou Zhujiang New Town. The project, which encompasses approximately 900 mu (approximately 0.6 square kilometers), has a gross floor area of approximately 1.5 million square meters and a planned investment of RMB 30 billion. Under the development model of "industrial development before urban development and urban development driven by industrial development," the project will focus on the field of intelligent manufacturing and production service and introduce five major services related to intelligent manufacturing, namely financial services, industrial platforms, technological R&D, trial production services and talent incubation with a view to building a service-industry cluster of global intelligent manufacturing and production. It will be the first smart town to integrate all the functions of work, leisure, shopping, entertainment, learning and living.
